What Manner of Man: Week 3 - Earth Roles

One thing I firmly believe is that we all have the light of Christ in us.

During grad school I had a conversation with a friend about this topic from the angle that we all have something Godly in us and wrote a blog post about it.

So, when this idea came up in week 3 of What Manner of Man by Richard M Eyre, it is no surprise I gravitated towards these words:

It may be that even before Christ was the life of this world he was the light of this world. The one thing that all men have in common is the light of Christ—the deep-seated, subconsciously remembered connection of our spirits to his. This light separates right from wrong, inherent good from inherent evil. Some call it conscience, some call it inborn morality, some deny it altogether, but all of us have it (at least until it is snuffed out by sustained evil or intentional wickedness). (p18)

My mind was also drawn to his choice to pair “sustained” with evil and “intentional” with wickedness.

I’m not sure exactly what he meant or intended, but it has gotten me thinking about what I do intentionally, and what I do in sustained (repetitive, habitual, continual) ways - good or evil?
