30-Day Yoga Challenge

A friend invited me to join her for a 30-day yoga challenge, so I decided to join her! I'm not sure when exactly she started, but we talked about it when she was visiting for New Years (so I'm probably late to the party, but joining now!)

We're following along doing HOME - A 30 30 Day Yoga with Adriene (feel free to join!)

Not me, but I aspire to this! 

Day 1: Recognize - Thu 16 Jan 2025

It was longer than I anticipated, but I did it! and set these ground rules:

  1. I am going to do yoga every day for 30-days
  2. I am going to do all 30-days of this challenge
  3. If I don't have time one day, I'll do a shorter one (10ish minutes)
  4. I am aiming for no longer than 35-days to complete the 30-day challenge

Day 2: Intend - Fri 17 Jan 2025

Morning yoga today, great way to get my day rolling :)

Day 3: Awaken - Sat 18 Jan 2025

Mid-morning yoga - slowish start to the day, but my body was happy to have the yoga movement.

Day 4: Activate - Sun 19 Jan 2025

Late-night yoga - tempted to skip, especially because my legs (particularly calves and hamstrings) are quite angry with me after I biked and danced on Saturday evening without stretching, oops! But, I don't want to miss so early in the challenge, so I texted my friend to commit and then got the video going in time to finish before the day was technically over!

Day 5: Soften - Mon 20 Jan 2025

Early afternoon - my legs are still quite tight from my biking and dancing activities on Saturday, so this felt good (and hard) today!

Day 6: Ignite - Tue 21 Jan 2025

Mid-morning yoga - my abs are going to feel this one tomorrow (or later today?) and I'm not mad about it.

Day 7: Stretch - Wed 22 Jan 2025

Night time yoga - I was not feeling like doing yoga, tempted to do a short one thinking "I just need more stretching than yoga today" - turns out, it was stretch day, and I feel great about the choice to stick with Adriene :)

Day 8: Heal - Thu 23 Jan 2025

Evening yoga. On this chilly day, it was awesome to have a practice that included a blanket. I think it was also helpful/necessary since there was little moving (and thus no heating up of the body from movement)

Day 9: Inquire - Fri 24 Jan 2025

Morning yoga - I am going to dance practice again tonight, and knew if I didn't get this in first thing it might not happen. Feeling empowered to tackle the rest of my day now!

Day 10: Ground - Sat 25 Jan 2025

Morning yoga again! I'm feeling better doing this, so it has become more of a priority (hopefully that sticks!) This was the shortest one so far (18min) - made me glad, because I was contemplating doing a different video today due to time constraints, but decided I'd just be late if I needed to, and lucked out :) Also, she had us lift our toes while explaining grounding through all four sides of the feet and it suddenly clicked! That will serve me well going forward!

Day 11: Dig - Sun 26 Jan 2025

Afternoon yoga. I have evening plans and didn't want this to slip by today, so after church I decided to put this first before baking for the event I am attending. It was good to clear my mind and make some space for this in my life today!

Day 12: Nurture - Mon 27 Jan 2025

Just what I needed today - to feel blanketed in security and the reminder that even when doing something daily we need "rest" days

Day 13: Grow - Tue 28 Jan 2025

Night yoga, after biking to and from teaching crochet class in the cold - my body was glad and a little mad about this one, but definitely ended glad!

Day 14: Return - Wed 29 Jan 2025

Morning yoga - prepping for what will likely be a stressful, long day. This is one I would like to return to, my hips really appreciated this.

Day 15: Reset - Thu 30 Jan 2025

Night yoga - I feel extra tight tonight. I'm hoping/assuming this yoga will help (as in it would be worse tonight/tomorrow if I didn't do the yoga video...) There was a good about of stretch and also active core work in this video.

Day 16: Savor - Fri 31 Jan 2025

Morning yoga - great way to start my day (and I know it's going to be a long day with a late night, so this was my best opportunity! This was a slow, shorter video, which was wonderful. As it ended, I thought "What, we're done already?" and realized that I have felt that way at the end of all these videos - Adriene does a great job of carrying you along and not making anything feel too long or too hard.

Day 17: Synchronize Sat 1 Feb 25

Morning yoga - this is a habit I hope I can maintain! Once again, I saw it was a nearly 30-min video and was worried about how much time it was going to take, but then got to the end and thought "Wait, it's already over?" Love that! Also love the reminder to incorporate micro elements of the practice into life off the mat - why not? I could use a deep breath in and letting things go throughout my day!

Day 18: Believe Sun 2 Feb 25

Evening yoga - tempted to skip, but resisted! There was a lot going on in my house, people in and out doing laundry and prepping for a movie night, but I still did it!

Day 19: Balance Mon 3 Feb 25

Afternoon yoga - pre heading out for the day. Favorite quotes: "Balance is my natural state. ... So I'm not trying to achieve my balance, I'm trying to return back to it." 
"So sometimes the path to balance is not in the doing all the things that we're told to do for our wellbeing but in the listening or the undoing even."

Day 20: Still Tue 4 Feb 25

"It doesn't always have to be harder, faster, stronger. Remember, dear one, to take time to be still"

Morning yoga. Loved the reminder of our heart and mind connection.

Day 21: Boost Wed 5 Feb 25

Mid morning yoga - just in time to take a shower before going to teach my afterschool program! Glad to go to that calm and refreshed :)

Day 22: Stir Thu 6 Feb 25

Evening yoga!

Day 23: Focus Fri 7 Feb 25

Evening yoga (again...) loved this one! I have tried this pose before {unsuccessfully} so it was very exciting to feel progress!

Day 24: Uplift Sat 8 Feb 25

Squeezing in yoga between helping with a move and a birthday party.... so glad this was a short one!

Day 25: Unwind Sun 9 Feb 25

Night yoga - cutting it close tonight... and unsure if I could really handle yoga today. But, once again, it was perfect. A calm, stretching, short practice. I feel very ready for bed now

Day 26: Keep Mon 10 Feb 25

Feeling the positive effects of daily practice. Loving the calm, and appreciate the reminder to make time for self-care.

Day 27: Integrate Tue 11 Feb 25

Afternoon yoga - between lessons! But too close to having eaten lunch... oops. Want to avoid that mistake in the future!

Day 28: Nourish Wed 12 Feb 25

Night yoga - feeling a little off today, glad it was a short practice.

Day 29: Intuit Thu 13 Feb 25

Evening yoga - felt great again today, which makes me happy!

Day 30: Journey Fri 14 Feb 25

Morning yoga - feels like a good way to end this journey - and also like a great Valentines' Day gift to myself :)

I wasn't expecting a free form, do your own yoga session - I kinda loved it and kinda was scared of it, but I feel good at the end, so we'll call it a win! And made me realize I could do a free form yoga session if I wanted/needed to!

Also, I am pretty proud of myself for making it 30 days in a row through this program!!
