Sometimes we set goals and focus on them and have the steps needed identified and lined up.

Sometimes we set a goal and life happens and that goal gets sidelined, or falls to the wayside.

And sometimes that goal happens anyway.

I remember hearing about vision boards, and about people who created one including a house they wanted to live in. That vision board was tucked away somewhere and years later found while moving into a new house. The very house (or one very like it, I can't remember how literal this part was) from the vision board.

While in college I experienced something similar.

My first semester there I made a list of things I wanted to do while in Virginia for school. That list was put in this pink purse I had. Well, that purse broke. So, I didn't use it regularly, but I also didn't throw it away. In my last semester of school, I was going through everything I owned, purging things that I didn't need or want to move with me (I was lucky and had some local friends who had stored some of my stuff each summer, so was trying to pare down some of the accumulation before a cross country move).

Well, I found that purse. And the list I had made but not looked at for the better part of three years. Turns out, I had done all but two things on that list. One was white water rafting, which finally made it off the list in 2023. The other was having a picnic on boulders in the Maury River. So, one of my roommates and I packed a picnic and wandered over to make that happen.

I often think of those things that just happened and want to tap into that power more often.

Turns out, I may have done so with my quest to get 100 YouTube followers.

For about two years I was diligently tracking my follower count (among other things for my business) and then at some point I paused both tracking that metric and making new videos.

In the time between then and now, turns out I have more than 100 subscribers on YouTube. (113, but who's counting ;)

Hopefully that is just a stepping stone towards even more, and I also hope it is the motivation I need to get back into the video making game!
